An Overview Of Magic Jack

Magic Jack is a voice over IP service that has soared in popularity in the USA and Canada over recent years. Essentially, it’s a ‘dongle’ like device that plugs into your computer, with a standard phone plugging in to the other end of the device. There’s an annual charge of $19.95 in order to use the service but this includes absolutely unlimited calls to any US or Canadian telephone number.
Voice over IP first became popular with consumers through Skype. However, since then a number of alternative services have become available, with varying levels of success. Perhaps much of Magic Jack’s success can be attributed to the fact it comes with a host of facilities that other providers charge extra for.
One example of these extras is a telephone number. Magic Jack users get a telephone number for incoming calls included in the price of the service. Users can even decide which area code they would like for their telephone numbers. IN addition to that, there is a call waiting service, voicemail and caller ID function all also included within the yearly fee. That’s quite a long list of features included within the price of the service, particularly when you consider that a number of other popular VOIP service providers do actually charge for such extras.
Many users ask about international calls with Magic Jack. You can indeed make them through the service but they are not included in the annual fee. However, the price per minute for international calls is much lower than the cost of the same calls through standard telephone services, making it appealing for those who do frequently make international calls.
So to sum it up simply, Magic Jack is just a voice over IP service. However, its list of included extras and its great price are helping the service to continue to soar in popularity.
